Roads and Paving: Drives, Streets, Footpaths, Junctions and Car Parks

Draw roads, drives and footpaths by their centre line, let them meet at junctions, set crossfall and turning heads, and draw paving and car parks with their bays set out for you.

Roads and drives

1. Open **Site plan** and pick **Road**, or type `ROAD` (`DRIVE`).

2. Click along the road's centre line; press Enter to finish.

3. Pick what it is in its panel: **Driveway**, **Footpath**, **Street** or **Access road**. The kind sets its width and build up.

A road is cut and filled into the ground along its length, so it sits on a slope as it would be built.

A road's properties

**Cross section**: the **Crossfall** and the **Shoulder**, each as 1 in so many.

**Turning head**: the end of a cul de sac.

**Chainage**: marks along the road every so many metres.

**Surface**: its material.

**Junctions**: roads that meet join at a junction.

Settings › Editor › **Roads** chooses how roads are drawn on the plan (survey, presentation, construction or schematic) and the junction style.

Paving and car parks

1. Pick **Paving**, or type `PAVING` (`CARPARK`).

2. Click each corner of the outline and close it.

3. Tick **Car park** while drawing and the bays are set out for you.

**Bays**: the bay angle, which way the aisles run, how many bays fit, and planting in the leftover corners (**Plant the leftovers**).

**Surface**: the paving's material. Its area and perimeter are shown.

Tip: bay sizes and aisle widths follow the Standards in Settings › Site, International or United States.
