How to draw a floor plan in four steps
Step 1. Measure the space. Wall-to-wall distances along each side, ceiling height, door and window positions and widths. For an existing space a 5 m tape measure and a notebook are enough; for a proposed new layout you only need the overall dimensions.
Step 2. Open the editor and draw the walls. The wall tool snaps to a grid (metres or feet, your choice). Click to place each corner, close the polygon for each room.
Step 3. Add doors and windows. Drag from the catalogue and drop onto a wall, they snap into the wall as openings, with editable width, swing direction, and sill height.
Step 4. Capture or share. Snapshot the lit 3D scene to an image (PNG) in one click, or share a read-only or editable live link that opens in any browser. No watermark, no resolution cap, no account required for viewers.
Drawing accuracy: grid, snapping, dimensions
Floor plans live or die on accuracy. The planner uses a metric or imperial grid (your choice; the default is metric) with configurable cell sizes, 10 cm and 5 cm grids are useful for residential, larger for commercial. Every wall, opening, and furniture piece snaps to the active grid.
Dimensions are visible on the 2D plan as you draw. Wall lengths are reported automatically; you don't have to dimension by hand.
Doors, windows, and openings
Doors and windows aren't standalone objects, they cut into the wall they belong to and resize with the wall. Place a door, edit its swing direction (hinge left / right, swing in / out), edit its width, change its position by dragging along the wall, all without re-drawing the surrounding geometry.
Windows similarly carry sill height, opening width, and reveal depth (the inside-to-outside thickness of the window frame). Useful for showing daylight behaviour in 3D.
Multi-floor floor plans
Home 3D Plan supports unlimited floors per project. Use the floor switcher to add upper storeys / basements; each floor has its own elevation, height, and room layout, all stacked correctly in 3D.
For a two-storey house, draw each floor as a top-down plan, then switch to 3D to verify the upper-floor walls align with load-bearing walls below.

Will there ever be a paid plan?
It is free today with no paywalled features. Home 3D Plan is community-funded rather than investor-funded, supported by optional partnerships and community contributions. If we ever introduce paid plans, we will show the fees before any charge and will not lock features you already use behind a paywall.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can open the editor and start designing without signing in. A free account only adds cloud saves across devices, sharing, and a personal texture library; it does not unlock design features.
What units does the floor plan use?
Both metric and imperial. Switch between metres and feet/inches at any time, the project data is the same, only the display changes.
Can I export a floor plan without a watermark?
