The building
Set materials (set_materials): a home3dplan MCP tool
set_materials: Define project materials and assign them. A material is a colour (0 to 255 per channel, alpha for glass) and optionally a texture id from the texture library (for example Travertine004_1K-PNG_Color, Concrete034_1K-PNG_Color, Wood082A_1K-PNG_Color), a tiling (repeats per metr.
`set_materials` is one of the 24 tools the home3dplan MCP server offers an assistant. Connect [Claude](/mcp/claude), [Claude Code](/mcp/claude-code) or [ChatGPT](/mcp/chatgpt) and it is available in the conversation.
What it does
Define project materials and assign them. A material is a colour (0 to 255 per channel, alpha for glass) and optionally a texture id from the texture library (for example Travertine004_1K-PNG_Color, Concrete034_1K-PNG_Color, Wood082A_1K-PNG_Color), a tiling (repeats per metre), smoothness and metallic (0 to 1), transmission for glass. Built-in ids also work: glass, white, frame_black_metal, stone_concrete, ground_grass. Assign to walls (by id), roofs (by id and slot), landscape blocks, and the drawing’s floor and ceiling plates.
A write. It saves one revision of the project, which appears in the open editor at once and can be undone there. Scope: **projects:write**.
Inputs
**projectId** (string, required): See the tool’s description.
**materials** (object): See the tool’s description.
**walls** (({ wallId: string, material: string })[]): See the tool’s description.
**roofs** (({ roofId: string, roof?: string, edge?: string, gable?: string, ridge?: string })[]): See the tool’s description.
**blocks** (({ blockId: string, sides?: string, top?: string })[]): See the tool’s description.
**plates** ({ floor?: string, ceiling?: string }): See the tool’s description.
What comes back
What changed, in words and in a structured form, and the link that opens the project in the editor on the right storey and view.
Tip: if the project changed in the editor between two calls, the write is refused as a conflict and the assistant opens the project again. Nothing is overwritten.
Ask for it like this
"Make the external walls white render and the roof grey slate."
The assistant chooses the tool and fills its inputs from what you said; you do not name the tool or type its inputs.
