Home Planner: Free Floor Plan & Interior Design Editor

Draw walls, place doors and windows, furnish rooms, and switch to a real-time 3D walkthrough, all free in your browser. The Home Planner is the floor-plan canvas at the heart of Home 3D Plan.

The Home Planner is the main canvas of Home 3D Plan, the floor-plan editor where you draw the shell of a home, divide it into rooms, drop in doors and windows, lay down flooring, and furnish every space from a catalogue of thousands of real-scale models. Draw in 2D from the top down, then flip to a fully textured 3D view and walk through the result. No download, no licence, no paywall.

It is the tool you reach for to plan a whole space: a renovation, a new build, a room you are about to redecorate, an office you are about to lay out. Where the Modeler builds individual objects and DraftCAD drafts precise technical drawings, the Home Planner is where the rooms themselves come together.

Draw the floor plan in 2D

Start with the **Wall** tool. Click to drop wall segments; the editor snaps to a grid (metres or feet, your choice) and shows live length and angle as you draw. Close a loop and the enclosed area becomes a room you can name, measure, and floor. Walls have real thickness, so openings and corners read correctly in 3D.

Add **doors and windows** by dropping them onto a wall. They cut a real opening, snap to the wall centre-line, and can be resized and repositioned by dragging. Swap door swing direction, set sill heights for windows, and the 3D view updates instantly.

Every dimension is editable. Select a wall and type its exact length; select a room and read its area. The plan is precise enough to hand to a builder and forgiving enough to sketch with.

Furnish from a real-scale catalogue

Open the **Catalogue** and drag furniture, fixtures, appliances, and decor straight onto the plan. Every model is dimensioned to real-world scale, so a sofa that reads as 2.1 m wide on the plan is 2.1 m wide in the room, what you lay out is what fits.

Rotate, nudge, and stack pieces with snapping that respects walls and other furniture. Custom objects you build in the **Modeler 3D Editor** and save as Components show up here too, so a bespoke shelf or table drops into the room at the size you modelled it.

2D plan and 3D walkthrough: one model

Toggle from the top-down 2D plan to a real-time **3D view** at any moment. It is the same model, not an export. Orbit the camera, drop to eye level, and walk through the space to check sightlines, circulation, and how the light falls.

Apply **materials and finishes** per surface: wood or tile floors, painted or papered walls, stone counters, glass, metal. Change a finish in 3D and it stays put when you flip back to 2D.

Multi-floor homes

A project can hold as many floors as the home needs. Each floor has its own elevation, ceiling height, and layout; the 3D view stacks them correctly and shows stairs between levels. Trace an upper floor over the outline of the one below so load-bearing walls line up.

Save, share, and export

Signed-in projects auto-save to the cloud and sync across devices; you can also work signed-out with browser-storage persistence. Share a read-only or editable live link for feedback, or snapshot the lit 3D scene to a photo render (PNG), unlimited and with no watermark. For a to-scale PDF, DXF, or SVG, the platform includes DraftCAD, a separate 2D CAD tool.

How the Home Planner fits with the other editors

Home 3D Plan has three editors that share one platform. The **Home Planner** (this page) lays out rooms and furnishes them. The **[Modeler 3D Editor](/features/modeler-3d-editor)** builds custom 3D objects, furniture, fixtures, built-ins, that you can drop into a plan. **[DraftCAD](/features/draftcad)** is a 2D precision drafting workspace with AutoCAD-style commands for technical drawings. Work flows between them: model a piece in the Modeler, place it in the Home Planner, dimension it in DraftCAD.
