Place services elements and runs (place_services): a home3dplan MCP tool

place_services: Place services elements by catalogue key (search_services) at plan points in mm on a storey, as the trades’ Place tools do: each seats on the wall or the floor at its catalogue level unless level (mm) says otherwise, facing in degrees.

`place_services` is one of the 38 tools the home3dplan MCP server offers an assistant. Connect [Claude](/mcp/claude), [Claude Code](/mcp/claude-code) or [ChatGPT](/mcp/chatgpt) and it is available in the conversation.

What it does

Place services elements by catalogue key (search_services) at plan points in mm on a storey, as the trades’ Place tools do: each seats on the wall or the floor at its catalogue level unless level (mm) says otherwise, facing in degrees. Runs draw pipes, ducts and cables along points from a run preset by its label ("Hot and cold, 15 mm", "Flow and return, 15 mm", "Waste branch, 40 mm" and the rest from search_services). Rooms should be named first so the schedules read right.

A write. It saves one revision of the project, which appears in the open editor at once and can be undone there. Scope: **projects:write**.

Inputs

**projectId** (string, required): See the tool’s description.

**storey** (integer): Default 0.

**items** (({ element: string, at: { x: number, y: number }, level?: number, facing?: number })[]): See the tool’s description.

**runs** (({ preset: string, points: ({ x: any, y: any })[] })[]): See the tool’s description.

What comes back

What changed, in words and in a structured form, and the link that opens the project in the editor on the right storey and view.

Tip: if the project changed in the editor between two calls, the write is refused as a conflict and the assistant opens the project again. Nothing is overwritten.

Ask for it like this

"Use place_services on my project."

The assistant chooses the tool and fills its inputs from what you said; you do not name the tool or type its inputs.
