Sweet Home 3D alternative
Sweet Home 3D Alternative in Your Browser: No Download, Free, Modern 3D
Home 3D Plan is a browser-based Sweet Home 3D alternative — nothing to install, a modern first-person 3D walkthrough, unlimited photo renders, GLB import, creation studios, and optional AI. Free and private, like Sweet Home 3D, but it runs in a tab.
Sweet Home 3D is a genuinely free, private home designer — and a good one. Its main limitation is that it is a desktop application you download and install, with an older interface. Home 3D Plan gives you the same free, private, no-nonsense approach, but it runs in your browser with nothing to install and a modern 2D/3D editor.
Like Sweet Home 3D, Home 3D Plan is free and runs on your device, so your design stays yours. It adds a first-person 3D walkthrough, unlimited one-click photo renders, GLB / OBJ import, parametric creation studios, a SketchUp-style 3D modeller, and a 2D CAD tool — plus it works on a phone or tablet, which a desktop app cannot.
What Home 3D Plan adds over Sweet Home 3D
Nothing to install. It opens in any modern browser and installs as a Progressive Web App if you want an app icon and offline access — no Java runtime, no desktop download.
A modern 3D walkthrough. Switch to a first-person camera and walk through the space; snapshot unlimited photo renders to PNG with no watermark.
Creation studios: design custom furniture, pergolas, stairs, trees, fences, and landscaping parametrically — then place them in your plan.
GLB / OBJ import and custom texture upload, a SketchUp-style 3D modeller (Push/Pull, Move, Rotate), and DraftCAD, a 2D CAD workspace with DXF and to-scale PDF export.
Optional AI assistants (DraftCAD + modeller) that build geometry from a text prompt using your own Anthropic API key — you pay only the API cost.
Cross-device: plan on a laptop, continue on a tablet or phone. Sign in to sync; stay signed-out to keep everything local.
What Sweet Home 3D still does well
Sweet Home 3D is open source and fully offline as a desktop app, with no account of any kind. If you specifically want a self-contained desktop program and never touch the browser, it remains a solid choice.
Home 3D Plan is the better fit if you want the same free, private spirit without installing anything, with a modern editor, mobile support, unlimited renders, and the extra maker tools.
Sweet Home 3D vs Home 3D Plan

Frequently asked questions
Is this really free?
Yes. Every design feature is free for every user on every device today, with no per-export charge and no watermark.
Will there ever be a paid plan?
It is free today with no paywalled features. Home 3D Plan is community-funded rather than investor-funded, supported by optional partnerships and community contributions. If we ever introduce paid plans, we will show the fees before any charge and will not lock features you already use behind a paywall.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can open the editor and start designing without signing in. A free account only adds cloud saves across devices, sharing, and a personal texture library; it does not unlock design features.
Is there a Sweet Home 3D online / browser version?
Home 3D Plan is a browser-based alternative to Sweet Home 3D. It runs in a tab with nothing to install and installs as a PWA for offline use. It is free and runs on your device, like Sweet Home 3D.

Yes. Home 3D Plan imports GLB and OBJ models and lets you upload custom textures, plus it ships a SketchUp-style modeller for building custom pieces.
