Draw a road as its centreline and it is built to its cross section: the carriageway, kerbs, verges and footways of a driveway, a footpath, a street or an access road, laid on the ground at the levels you draw.

Each a cross section the road is built to. Switch between them in the bar above.

  • Driveway on the plan

    Driveway

    A 3 m carriageway a car can cross onto, no kerbs, no footway.

  • Footpath on the plan

    Footpath

    A 1.2 m path.

  • Street on the plan

    Street

    Two lanes on 5.5 m, 125 mm kerbs, a verge and a footway each side.

  • Access road on the plan

    Access road

    One 4.5 m carriageway, a kerb and a footway on one side.

How the Road tool works

  1. Open the Road tool

    In the editor, open Site and choose Road or drive, or type ROAD (DRIVE).

  2. Pick its type

    Pick a driveway, footpath, street or access road in the panel.

  3. Draw its centreline

    Click along the centreline; the road is built to its cross section on either side.

  4. Junctions

    Where two roads meet, the junction is worked out for you.
