Files and checks
Export a file (export_file): a home3dplan MCP tool
export_file: Export the project: ifc (the building as IFC4), dxf or dwg (a storey’s plan drawing), pdf-plan (a storey’s plan on one sheet, as the editor’s Plan sheet export), pdf-detail-set (an A4 book: a general arrangement, a page per storey, per room and for the site, in the plan style’.
`export_file` is one of the 24 tools the home3dplan MCP server offers an assistant. Connect [Claude](/mcp/claude), [Claude Code](/mcp/claude-code) or [ChatGPT](/mcp/chatgpt) and it is available in the conversation.
What it does
Export the project: ifc (the building as IFC4), dxf or dwg (a storey’s plan drawing), pdf-plan (a storey’s plan on one sheet, as the editor’s Plan sheet export), pdf-detail-set (an A4 book: a general arrangement, a page per storey, per room and for the site, in the plan style’s colours), csv-rooms (the room schedule), csv-finishes (the finish schedule). The file is stored with the project and a download link on this server comes back; small CSVs are also inlined. Side view sheets, the sheet set PDF and the take-off workbook are made in the editor (Settings › Exports).
A read. It changes nothing in the project. Scope: **files:write**.
When plans are enforced this tool needs the **pro** plan; until then it is open to every account. See the [changelog](/mcp/changelog).
Inputs
**projectId** (string, required): See the tool’s description.
**kind** (ifc | dxf | dwg | pdf-plan | pdf-detail-set | csv-rooms | csv-finishes, required): See the tool’s description.
**storey** (integer): the storey for dxf, dwg and pdf-plan Default 0.
**sheet** (A4 | A3 | A2 | A1 | A0 | Letter | Tabloid): pdf-plan; default A3
**orientation** (portrait | landscape): pdf-plan (default landscape) and pdf-detail-set (default portrait)
**scale** (string | integer): pdf-plan: fit (default) scales the storey to the sheet; a number is the plot denominator, 50 for 1:50
**style** (monochrome | plan): pdf-plan: monochrome (black lines, the default, what the editor’s Plan sheet export does) or plan (the plan style’s own colours)
**monochrome** (boolean): pdf-plan, the older form of style; style wins when both are given
**release** (R2000 | R2004 | R2007 | R2018): dwg: the AutoCAD release to write; default is the drawing’s own choice (R2000 when none)
What comes back
A link to the file, saved in the project’s files, that the assistant can hand you. IFC, DXF and DWG carry the model or the plan; the PDF is the plan sheet; the CSVs are the room and finish schedules.
Ask for it like this
"Export the ground floor plan as DXF and the whole model as IFC."
The assistant chooses the tool and fills its inputs from what you said; you do not name the tool or type its inputs.
