Every property, and what it does
Select a pot and these are its rows: what it measures first, then its Design panel, group by group. A field shows when it applies, so a ribbed pot has its rib depth and a smooth one does not.
Measured
Read from the pot as it is.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Overall height | The height of the whole piece, stand or saucer included. | Millimetres |
| Rim height | Where the rim sits above the floor. | Millimetres |
| Width | The widest point of the pot. | Millimetres |
| Holds | How much the pot holds. | Litres |
Design
Which design the pot carries.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Preset | Replaces the pot's design with another, keeping where it stands. | The 32 presets and your saved designs |
| Fit the stand to the pot | When the pot does not sit on its stand, says why and sizes the stand to it. | One click |
Form
The kind of pot, its trade size and its proportions.
| Field | What it does | Values |

| Wall taper | How much thicker the wall is at the foot. A constant wall reads as moulded. | 0 to 200%; default 60%; advanced |

How the Pots tool works
Open Pots and vases
In the editor, open Furnish and choose Pots and vases, or type POTTERY (POT). The presets open.
Set it down
Pick a pot, then click where it goes: on the floor, or on a table or shelf.
Shape it
Its Design panel changes the form, size, rim, surface, saucer, stand and finishes, and reads what it holds.
Plant it
For a plant in a pot, use Indoor plants: the same pot, with one of 43 species growing in it.
Pot questions, answered.
What can I make?
Nursery pots, cylinders, tapered pots, bowls, eggs, troughs, square and bell planters, baskets, cachepots, hanging pots, and vases from bud vases to ginger jars, urns and carafes.
Are the sizes real?
Yes. A pot can take a trade size from P9 to 40 litres, and its panel reads how much it holds.
Can a pot have a stand or hang?
Yes. Stands come as cradles, tripods, hairpins, rings, plinths, X frames and stepped stands; a pot can also hang from the ceiling or a hook on a cord, macrame, leather or chain.
Can a pot stand on a table?
Yes. Click a table or shelf and it sits on its top.
