Measure
Distance and Area measure without drawing anything: click the points and the figures print to the command line. Every room already carries its area on the plan, and a dimension puts a length on paper.
Every property, and what it does
The two measure tools, and where else the plan gives you figures.
The tools
In CAD tools, Measure. Read only: the results print to the command line.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Distance | The distance between two points you click (DIST, DI). | Two points |
| Area | The area inside the points you click (AREA). | Click each corner; Enter to finish |
Figures the plan already has
Measured for you as you draw.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Room area | Every room shows its area on the plan, and changes as the walls move. | Square metres |
| Wall length and area | A wall's panel shows its length and the area of its face. | Read from the wall |
| Schedules | The Schedules tab lists every room's area and perimeter, and the finishes room by room. | CSV download |
| Dimensions | To put a length on paper, draw a dimension. | Linear, aligned, radius, diameter, angular |
How the Measure tools work
Pick a tool
Open CAD tools, then Measure, or type DIST (DI) or AREA.
Click the points
Two points for a distance, every corner for an area. Object snap finds corners and ends.
Read the figure
The result prints to the command line; nothing is drawn.
Or read the rooms
Every room's area is on the plan and in the Schedules tab.
Measuring questions, answered.
How do I find the floor area?
Every room shows its area on the plan, and the Schedules tab lists them with their perimeters. AREA measures any outline you click.
Does measuring change my drawing?
No. Distance and Area print their figures to the command line and draw nothing.
