Drawings and output
Import and Export: PDF, DXF, DWG, SVG, IFC and Underlays
Export the plan as PDF, DXF, DWG or SVG, the drawings as a PDF set, the building as IFC4 and its take off as a spreadsheet; import DXF, DWG and SVG, and trace over a scanned plan or PDF.
Settings › Exports
**Plan drawing (DXF)** and **Plan drawing (DWG)**: the plan for any CAD program. **DWG release** writes R2000, which opens everywhere, or R2018.
**Plan drawing (SVG)**: the plan as a vector image.
**Plan sheet (PDF)**: the plan on a page, portrait or landscape.
**Detail set (PDF)**: the drawing set as a book: plans, ceiling plans, a layout per trade, schedules, rooms and the site.
**Sheet set (PDF)**: every sheet you laid out, one page each.
**Building model (IFC4)**: the building as typed IFC elements in their storeys, so a consultant opens the model in their own BIM program.
**Building take off**: the walls, slabs and openings counted, as CSV or a workbook.
From the command line
**Export**: `EXPORTPDF` (`PLOT`) with a scale, a sheet and an orientation, and MONO for black and white; `EXPORTDXF`, `EXPORTDWG` and `EXPORTSVG`.
**Import**: `IMPORTDXF`, `IMPORTDWG` and `IMPORTSVG` bring a drawing into the plan.
Trace over a plan you have
1. **Underlay** (`UNDERLAY`, `UL`): put an image or a page of a PDF under the plan. You can also drop the file onto the plan.
2. **Calibrate** (`CALIBRATE`, `CAL`): click two points on it you know the distance between, then type that distance.
3. Draw your walls over it. Its panel sets its wash, locks it, and whether it prints; it never prints unless you ask.
Pictures
**Render photo** saves the 3D or 2.5D view as an image. See [Lighting and rendering](/docs/lighting-and-rendering).

Frequently asked questions
Can I open the plan in AutoCAD?
Yes. Export it as DWG (R2000 or R2018) or DXF from Settings › Exports, or with EXPORTDWG and EXPORTDXF.
Can I export to Revit or ArchiCAD?
Export the building as IFC4 from Settings › Exports. BIM programs open IFC.
