Elevation Drawings
The north, east, south and west elevations are there from the first wall you draw. Click in a room and its four walls open as interior elevations, with every door, window, fitting and piece of furniture drawn as it stands.
Every property, and what it does
Select an elevation tag or open an elevation, and these are its rows.
The elevations
Two kinds, both in the Views list.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Exterior elevations | The north, east, south and west faces of the building, there from the first wall. | Four, always |
| Interior elevations | One per wall of a room, from an elevation tag placed in it (ELEVATION, ELE). | Up to four per tag |
The marker on the plan
Select the elevation tag on the plan and these are its rows.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Mark | What the drawing calls it. Empty, it is numbered on its own. | Any name, or numbered |
| Faces | Which walls the tag looks at. Each face that is on is an interior elevation. | North, East, South, West |
The view
Open the view from the Views list and these are its rows.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Storeys | The storeys the view draws. | Every storey, or the ones it covers |
| Scale | The size the drawing letters and prints at. | 1:10, 1:20, 1:25, 1:50, 1:100, 1:200, 1:500 |
Working in the view
A side view is a drawing of the model you can work in, not a picture of it.
| Field | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
| What it shows | Walls cut or seen, floors and roofs, doors and windows with their tags, stairs, furniture, services and the ground line. | Read from the model |
| Select and move | Click or box select, then drag along the view or up and down: a window's sill, a wall's base, a beam's drop. A typed figure moves it exactly. | The plan and the model follow |
| Place | Walls, doors, windows, levels and services runs and fittings can be placed on the cut or on a wall face. | From the view's own tools |
| Annotate | Dimensions, text, leaders, lines and hatches drawn in the view belong to it. | Kept with the view |
| Export | Settings, Exports has a sheet of the open view as PDF, and each view gets a sheet in the default sheet set. | PDF, or on a sheet |
How elevations work
Draw the walls
The four outside elevations are in the Views list from the first wall. Open one from the Views tab or the Views button.
Tag a room
Open CAD tools, then Annotate, and choose Elevation, or type ELEVATION (ELE), and click inside a room. Four arrows appear, one per wall.
Open a wall
Each arrow opens that wall as an interior elevation, with its doors, windows, kitchen units and fittings.
Put it on a sheet
Every elevation gets a sheet in the default sheet set, and exports as PDF.
Elevation questions, answered.
Do I have to draw the elevations?
No. The four outside elevations are drawn from the model as soon as there is a wall, and they change with it.
Can I draw a kitchen elevation?
Yes. Place an elevation tag in the kitchen and open the wall the units stand on: every cabinet, worktop and appliance is drawn.
Can I edit in an elevation?
Yes. Drag a window's sill or a wall's base, or place doors and windows on the wall face, and the plan and the model follow.
